Have your 'Kaye' and 'Edith' too.

It is interesting that just a few short years ago the women of our
country made a concerted effort to let the men of this fine country know
they too were just as able to manage, operate and own private business
as well as most men. Their statement, backed by most of the visible
personalities representing their sex and a large share of influential
male counterparts, was swift and decisive. Their manner of dress,
political awareness and their 'in your face' posture made an abrupt
transformation in almost all arenas of American public life. The 'media'
jumped on this 'bandwagon' with all the gusto of a hungry carnivore in
relating incidents and past discriminations as the mechanization of
'femininity' became a platform that was here to stay and was not going
to be satisfied with token alms of appeasement. 'Big Boys', their cloak
of masculinty bared through their indiscreet abuses and philandering,
were either chased from positions of authority or severly crippled by
this onslaught of indignation concerning the equality of the sexes. Now,
slowly but nevertheless continuess, the Womens Movement is acquiessing
to male dominance in their acceptance of acts once thought relegated to
the backrooms of mens lockers and barroom card partys. Men, once humbled
to womens demands, are moving to the forefront with acceptance of acts
by their leaders degrading and punitive to their female mates. Articles,
written to appease groups, religions and political movements that
denigrate the female in their role as partnership in the human race,
once again are front page news. For my part, I liked the 'new' women. I
liked the strength they exuded and most of all I enjoyed seeing the
intellect, with a different perspective, present in our lives.
Religions, cultures and societies that demean women to roles of inequity
have no place in our society and we need to be damn vocal about it, men
as well as women!
