Karen McGowans article on
compensation desparitys between CEO's and the so called working class was an interesting
viewpoint from someone who obviously despises the social equity prized by a capitalistic
system that is nurtured by performance. In a world that is in the clutches of a recession
where most of the executives are either out of a job or have been relegated to positions
far below their original stature, only the U.S. has maintained a growing economy. Who is
responsible for this unprecedented growth and affluent society? According to Karen, it is
the per hour worker and the newly job entered welfare case. One thing that is abundant in
this democratic system, and that is, opportunity. No CEO was born with the job, none
currently living the American dream, that is. The vast majority of millionaires, who
either are CEO's or are intelligent hard working individuals that have invested time and
money into the education needed to be successful or people who have won the lottery. Much
more of the former I am sure. The charitable foundations throughout the US is funded by
affluent hard working individuals who share their wealth through donations and the
American Tax system. No one doubts the vast compensation difference between labor and
management but who would deny the fantastic life that these indivduals are providing for
those who wish to invest the same time and energy into building a future for themselves
and their familys. No, I am not one of these dedicated individuals who are paid
astronomicals sums for their prowness and hudzpuh, but I do admire them and thank them for
a job well done and an economy they provide the steam for. Whimpering individuals who
would deny that opportunity wear a liberal mask over a socialistic personna, they are the
ones who we should be wary of, not the folks who spent years working their way up the
American Dream of success.
