Dr Mr. Smith,
At 66 years of age and born and raised in the State of Oregon and being in the
top 10% of the wage earners I paid fully into the Social Security plan. Being
eligible in March, 4 months past my 65 birthday, I was awarded $1620 per
month. OK, so far so good. I am self employed so I have no retirement other
than what prepare for myself (Gross $6,000 a month). I intended to work
another 5 years to supplement my retirement ($1650 after deducting Medicare
and Premium 65, leaves $1481, below poverty level, I might add.) Guess what? I
was told by the IRS that now I must pay $1 for every $3 I make over $30,187.
Wow! Also I must continue paying into Social Security while I work, 12% I
might add.
OK, let run the numbers; $6,000 minus 12% SS, 9% (Oregon income tax) 27%
Federal Tax = 48% from $6,000 =$2880 or $3120 take home AND (the lucky fellow
that I am) $1481 minus $493.17 = $987.83! Now we are getting somewhere! $3150
+ $987.83 = $4137.83! Take home every month.
I put 2 kids through college, paid for my home, gave 7% of my income to
charity, another 5% to People like you whom I voted for and what do I get for
my old age?
(don't give me the Crap about SS being for the indigent, I paid far more than
I will ever get out of it figuring inflation and the investment appreciation!)

What's the chance of getting on the Retirement plan you are on? I understand
it has no penalties, is elgible to your wife, has no age barrier and you can
make as much money lobbying as you want to with out any compromise? You know
there are Illegal aliens (Sorry about that, undocumented residents I should
say to be perfectly correct!) who are getting Social Security in one form or
another? Pissing and moaning am I? For what? Busting my ass paying other
peoples bills, saving other worldly countries from their own ineptness and
doing my duty at the polls to keep good honest citizens running a country who
have promised me a reward for my loyalty and conscience.
Maybe the poor and indigent are right, just sit around on your big minority
butt and do nothing, let Aunt and Uncle Sam pay the bills, use the Emergency
Room as my private Physician and never pay the bills, Take a vacation in the
'Big House' every once in awhile to get my teeth fixed and a good medical
checkup without paying a dime. knocking up several Dames who pop out a few
potential penal wards to keep my namesake, without having pay child support or
even their birth expenses! Jeez, I could go on and on but I won't and that is
because I know it won't do a damn bit of good, 2 generations from now my great
grand kids will be speaking Arabic, beating their Burka robed wives and
working for Senior 'Wetback' Managers bowing on prayer rugs facing Mecca 8
times a day!
Ok, you are right, I am just some nut who blows his horn every time he gets an
ache in his behind! Forget I said anything! By the way, when are you running
again, I am looking for a new job, being and average citizen ain't the
smartest move a person can do, especially if they plan on retiring while still
alive!
